With its 15,000 inhabitants, Torshavn is one of the world's smallest capitals. However, the city has many facilities, which are often only associated with large cities. Torshavn is beautifully situated beneath surrounding mountains on the largest of the islands. The city was founded in 825 and it got its name after the Nordic god Thor.
