The 150-year old Hue was residence of the Vietnamese royal family, and it is situated in Central Vietnam. The 13 kings, who have reigned in the city, have marked the city and the surrounding area. In the centre of the city is the fantastic royal city, and in an undulating area a little outside the town are the royal graves. The River of Scents runs through the city, and along its wide banks are nice streets and fine restaurants.

The Thien Mu pagoda was build by the duke Nguyen Hoang in 1601. The pagoda was rebuilt several times, and in 1844 King Thieu Tri built the 21m tall tower. Thien Mu means "the divine woman".
