World's Best Hostels 2008

Last week in Dublin, one of the budget travel industry’s most anticipated events of the year, the HOSCARs took place to recognise the best hostels in the world.
More than 800,000 customers worldwide had voted as they booked their accommodation online. Lisbon, the capital of Portugal topped the lists being the home of the top 3 hostels.
The winner was Travellers House in Lisbon, while Rossio Hostel and Lisbon Lounge hostel gave the popular backpacking destination an impressive one, two, three. The Riverside BP, Cardiff secured fourth place and was also voted No.1 in the world for best staff.
Adriano Cardoso, the manager of Travellers House said he believed the hostel was popular because guests were treated the way they would like to be treated when staying in a hostel: “You have to be there for travellers and take care of them - know your guests and offer the things you know they need."
HOSCAR’s were also awarded for the top three hostels on each continent, as well as categories including ‘Best location’, ‘Best staff’, ‘Most fun’, ‘Best character’ several others.
