Las Palmas, Gran Canaria

Located in the north east of the island on the coast, Las Palmas is the capital of Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands, Spain. Popular with international visitors all-year-round, this city enjoys a wonderfully warm subtropical climate, with hot summers, warm winters and hardly any rainfall at all. Being a year-round vacation destination, cheap flights to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria are very easy to come across, making it a great place to visit at any time of year.

Instead of the usual four seasons, Las Palmas only really receives two seasons – summer and winter. Summer normally lasts from the beginning of May until the end of September, when temperatures regularly reach as high as 95°F and rainfall is practically non-existent. On the other hand, winter in Las Palmas usually lasts from December until February, when temperatures rarely drop below 60°F and showers occur a few times each month.

Since the summer and winter seasons are equally popular times to visit Gran Canaria, your best bet of snapping up low-cost flights to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria is to visit the city during the low season in May, June, October or November. These months are the least popular times to visit, which means you’ll often see some great deals on flights.

If you bag yourself some budget flights to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria in May or June, you’ll enjoy warm sunny days during which you can relax on the city’s numerous beaches, admire the variety of plant life at the Jardin Canario, go hiking around the Caldera de Bandama or relax in the sun at Doramas Park.

If you decide to visit in October or November and suffer from a cloudy day or even a spot of rainfall, there is a wide selection of indoor activities available on your doorstep. The Auditorio Alfredo Kraus puts on a variety of superb shows and concerts throughout the year, the Museo Elder de la Ciencia y la Tecnologia is full of interactive exhibits and the Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas provides hours of entertainment if the weather is overcast.
