living is hard and too close to the marrow of my bone

watching so that you wont have to feel

used to think it was another doing the watching

critical and relentless

harsh and merciless

Others deserve compassion

watching behind transparent cold glazed eyes

behind the mask of emotionless face

watching and tormenting

cruel and blaming

its easy

and it hurts in its familiarity none the less

It has always been the watcher in me that is watching me watching others

sometimes the gaze is so harsh I can hardly breathe
