this is a quiet little town, the garden of the hotel has seats overlooking the Mekong which is really nice. I have now been here 4 nights, have done very little in terms of sight seeing though. I have slept a lot, visited the local temple a few times, even slept there this morning as it was cool. On a daily basis I wonder around town, get things to eat, some great fruit shakes here with crushed ice, wonder through the market. I havent had any beer, Beerlao which is quite popular here for a few days, tempting as it is cool but bot a good idea withthe heat.
I feel exhausted a lot, I think it is the heat which I am not used to. I havent had the motivation to visit some interesting villages and water falls withing a few hundred km of here.
Met Roland, from Heidelberg yesterday and showed him these animals in a big cage near the market, hard to tell what they are, they look like bears but are size of dogs and climb trees, never seen anything like them.
I will be heading to Vientien (capital) and probably catch a bus immediately from there to Luan Prabang which is highly recommended by everyone I have met so far. It apparantly has everything that would be interesting to see, on offer, so little point of visiting places like Vanviang which is a drinking place besides the climbing and caving activities. Roland tells me there is good choice of vegetarian food as well which will be good.
